Low Sexual Desire

Understand changing libido without shame or assumptions.

There is no single normal level

People have different levels of sexual desire, and desire can change over time. A low level of desire is not automatically a problem; concern often depends on whether the change is unwanted, persistent or distressing to the person.

What can affect desire?

Stress, fatigue, mood, relationship safety, pain, medication, health conditions, hormonal changes and life events may all play a role. Avoid assuming one cause or stopping prescribed medicine without advice.

Getting help

Consider speaking with a qualified clinician if the change worries you, is sudden or ongoing, or is associated with other symptoms. A clinician can review relevant factors and discuss options without judgement.
