Common concerns are worth discussing
Questions about erections, ejaculation, desire, pain, menstrual changes, discharge, sores, contraception or STI exposure are common reasons to seek health advice. There is no need to wait until a concern becomes severe to ask for help.
Symptoms that need assessment
- Unusual or persistent genital discharge, sores, rash or swelling.
- Pain during sex, urination or in the pelvic/genital area.
- Unexpected bleeding or a significant change in menstrual patterns.
- Possible STI exposure even without symptoms.
- Persistent sexual difficulties or a sudden change that causes distress.
Prepare for an appointment
Write down when the concern began, any related symptoms, medicines and questions. Ask about confidentiality and whether tests are recommended. A clinician can explain the benefits and limits of any examination or test.
Urgent symptoms
Seek urgent care for severe or sudden pain, heavy bleeding, fainting, fever with significant pelvic pain, suspected serious injury or other rapidly worsening symptoms.
